Shyamla Nataraj

SIAAP Coordinator

Independent journalist, with a Masters' Degree in Communication. Founder of SIAAP.

Overall responsibility for SIAAP programmes and staff. Primary responsibility for the NGO support programme and for SIAAP's financial management.

G. Kumaresan (Kumar)

Programme Officer

Masters Degree in Social Work. Previously worked on another Madras AIDS project, assisting with the implementation of a health education programme for lorry drivers.

Responsible for the design and implementation of SIAAP's Lorry Driver Education Programme. Now seeking to expand the programme to other check points and to assist other NGOs in replicating the model developed by SIAAP.

Nandini Rao

Programme Officer

Masters Degree in French, obtained in the USA. Whilst studying in the US. she worked as a volunteer on an AIDS programme in Pennsylvania.

Responsible for the design and implementation of SIAAP's volunteer training programme.

Roma Soloman

Programme Officer

A qualified doctor, with many years of experience in community-based health programmes, particularly those dealing with leprosy and STDs.

Responsible for the promotion of STD services for women living in the Madras slums.

Babur Sheriff

Health Educator

Studying for his degree in Social Work

Assists Kumar in the Lorry Driver Education Programme.

V. Premaja

Office Administrator

MA and MPhil in public administration. Strong interest in womens' involvement in the economy and industry.

Responsible for organising SIAAP's office and library and for administrative tasks.

Kate Shechter

Volunteer

Conducting her PhD research in anthropology on the religious responses to AIDS in India. An American National, AIDS activist and feminist.

Assists, as required, on all of SIAAP's programmes. In particular, responsible for working with Nandini on the volunteer training programme.
