3. Women and HIV/AIDS

To provide background information to the meeting, recent developments in five areas were briefly presented: the global epidemiological situation, vaccines, female-controlled prevention methods, social and economic factors contributing to women’s vulnerability to HIV/AIDS, and preparations for the Fourth World Conference on women.
