Unit One: Functional Adult Literacy and Its Implications
This unit is to enable the FAL Supervisors and Instructors to understand the meaning of Functional Adult Literacy and its implications to the development process.
It is also to enable them to see how the FAL approach operates in an integrated manner and how this integration affects the work they will do. Gender issues will also be highlighted to enable participants to take account of the roles men and women can play in FAL work.
