Probationary period

A probationary period is a period of training or employment, intended to assess the suitability of a person for a particular job. Such a period should be applied uniformly to all new recruits and should be determined in consultation with trade unions. The duration of the probationary period should depend on the nature of the job and the time required to acquire the necessary standard of proficiency.
