A CD4 cell count and viral load titer are obtained as part of a baseline laboratory data when initial diagnosis of HIV infection is made or prior to the initiation of antiretroviral drugs. Both tests should be repeated about four weeks after starting antiretroviral therapy. If the regimen is maintained, the tests for CD4 count and viral load titer should be performed every three moths thereafter along with other laboratory studies (Full Haemogram, U/E, and LFTs)
