Clinical features: It is an intestinal infection caused by Strongyloides stercoralis. The intestinal infection is usually asymptomatic but patients may have vague symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, flatulence, vomiting, diarrhoea and even epigastric pain. Heavier infections are more likely to produce symptoms. In immuno-compromised patients (e.g. due to prolonged use of steroids) disseminated infections may occur leading to enterocolitis and gram-negative bacteria.
