4.2.3 Hand washing

Hands should be washed with soap and water:

Before and after contact with each patient.

Before and after each procedure.

Before wearing and after removal of gloves

When hands are visibly soiled.

Before preparing, handling, serving or eating food and before feeding a patient.

Before leaving the area of work

Adequate supply of disposable tissues is encouraged in order to avoid reusable towels.
