The major causes of morbidity and mortality in under-five children in Nigeria are virtually the same as those responsible for ill health and death in infants. Malaria, diarrhoeal diseases, vaccine preventable diseases, and acute respiratory infections are responsible for about 95% of morbidity and almost 90% of mortality in under - five children.
