II. Establishing Therapeutic Committees

According to the Masterplan Therapeutic Committees will be established at all health facilities - public and private, including Health Centres and Dispensaries - as well as for districts and for regions.

A National Therapeutic Committee will supervise and coordinate the work of all these committees, supervise training activities, lay down Standard Treatment Guidelines and be involved in monitoring the availability of drugs in health facilities. The functioning of the committees will be reviewed annually at regional and national meetings. Important achievements by the committees will be published through the Pharmaceutical and Supplies Unit (PSU) of the Ministry of Health and the Tanzania Drug and Toxicology Information Service (TADATIS) in the Drug Information Bulletin, distributed quarterly.
